JERSEY GARDENS SETS ANOTHER RECORD YEAR WITH TOURISTS

Jersey Gardens, New Jersey’s largest outlet mall, posted double-digit growth in its tourism business for 2008.  Visits from international shoppers were up 37% over 2007.  In fact, Jersey Gardens was visited by shoppers from over 100 countries in 2008.

The value of the Euro and its location just 20 minutes outside New York City are just two of the many reasons why international visitors are flocking to Jersey Gardens.  Other luring factors include tax-free shopping on clothing, a comfortable, indoor shopping environment, and the assortment of brand name stores.

“Our proximity to New York City and Newark International Airport make Jersey Gardens a must-see destination for many international visitors.  It’s not uncommon for international visitors to book a trip to New York just to shop.  Jersey Gardens is particularly popular with Irish and German visitors,” states Crystal Fresco, Marketing Director of Jersey Gardens.

Jersey Gardens offers an extensive tourism program, which includes discount books, transportation, and group incentives.  In addition, Jersey Gardens is an official state welcome center for New Jersey.  Crystal Fresco, Marketing Director, comments, “The tourists are looking for a completely different shopping experience than our local New Jersey shoppers.  International visitors are looking for great prices on the popular American brands—many of which are three times as expensive in their home country.”

Jersey Gardens works closely with international tour operators, travel agencies, and airlines to create unique shopping excursions.  Transportation is also a critical factor in tourism success.  Jersey Gardens offers affordable daily bus transportation (via New Jersey Transit) from the Port Authority Bus terminal in Manhattan, as well as service from the Newark International Airport.  Peak tourism months are April, August, October, November, and December.

Jersey Gardens has established partnerships with top tour operators throughout Europe.  DerTour, the leading German operator, sells Jersey Gardens VIP packages to their clients as part of their trip itinerary.  German visitors have quadrupled since 2005 as a direct result of this partnership.
