Kids Helping Kids

Kids Helping Kids is a non profit teen volunteer organization founded by Mischa Zimmermann, after he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at the age of thirteen. After more than a year in the hospital, Mischa (now a 22 year old NYU student) started what has become a very successful, nationally recognized organization that provides mobility equipment for kids who’ve been affected by catastrophic illness or injury. “Our mission is to keep kids involved in the world of their peers and help them know they have not been forgotten,” says Mischa. Kids Helping Kids has been honored by the National Caring Institute, Rosie O’Donnell’s SuperKids, the Volvo for Life Awards and others for helping to increase awareness among the healthy youth of America about the huge difference they can make in the life of another child. Teens are forming Kids Helping Kids Clubs in schools across the country and using their service hours to make a difference in the lives of their peers who’ve been traumatically affected by illness or injury.

Children’s Specialized Hospital:

Children’s Specialized Hospital is the largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital in the United States and an affiliate member of the Robert Wood Johnson Health System. The Hospital’s Foundation is the only organization of its kind where every contribution has a direct impact on the future of children with special needs.
